Pelton Sets Education, Economic Development As Top Priorities for Mayoral Race
NASHVILLE, TN - Dave Pelton, who filed paperwork with the Davidson County Election commission on October 16th, 2006 to begin fundraising for the Mayoral race, has set Education as his number one priority.
“Education is the foundation from which everything else can grow. As my own children go through the public education system I want them and every other child in Nashville to have the tools they need to compete in a world economy. Great education will help reduce crime and attract business investment.”
Mr. Pelton is best known in Nashville for starting Tennessee’s first Clean Cities program in 2001. Clean Cities of Middle Tennessee is a public-private partnership designed to reduce foreign oil use and promote domestic alternatives. To date Clean Cities has helped displace over 1 billion gallons of petroleum.
Mr. Pelton is currently President of Trust for the Future, a 501 (c)(3) organization which oversees Clean Cities of Middle Tennessee and other projects including the award winning documentary film Kilowatt Ours.
After education, public safety and economic development will round out Mr. Pelton’s campaign platform.
Dave Pelton is the husband of former Alvin Ailey dancer and ballet teacher Maggie Pelton. They live in southern Davidson County with their three children.
